Tributes from across the globe have been seen in the wake of the death of British
fashion icon Alexander McQueen last Thursday (February 11th).
Former friends and clients of the designer, who was heralded as a uniquely gifted and creative member of the industry, have expressed their shock and sadness at McQueen's suicide.
Among those include Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and London fashion icon and supermodel Kate Moss (pictured), who was a bridesmaid at McQueen's wedding.
The troubled designer was said to have taken his life as a result of immense depression following the death of his mother five days beforehand.
Plum Sykes, a writer for US Vogue, told the Telegraph of her sadness at the news.
She said: "I always thought Alexander was a person riven with contradictions. Although he became one of the most influential fashion designers in the world by his mid-twenties, with every designer copying his outrageous 'bumster' trousers, and was appointed the designer at Givenchy at the age of 27, in 1996, I don't think success was easy for him."
US pop singer Lady Gaga is expected to pay tribute to McQueen at tonight's Brit Awards event in London.
