NML asks museums to work together
National Museums Liverpool (NML) has led the way in granting £35,000 to the North West Federation in order to administer a regional strategy for north-west cultural heritage.

This comes after the Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA) had not provided a national strategy, according to David Fleming, director of NML.

"It is up to the other national museums to call for a strategy for how they should serve the nation," he told the Museums Association.

However, some museums are working together nationwide.

John Orna-Ornstein, head of London and national programmes at the British Museum(pictured), said that by working recently with the Yorkshire Museum, both institutions have lent work to each other for exhibitions.

Mr Orna-Ornstein also said that the museum was working with the MLA and Museums Association on strategic partnerships around the country to share expertise through training.

The Victoria and Albert Museum has also recently renewed its partnership with Museums Sheffield.
