London celebrates Asian heritage
The cultural heritage of the London Bangladeshi and Bengali population will be recognised and celebrated during a special concert next week.

My Golden Bangla will take place on March 26th and will feature all aspects of the culture including live music, spoken word, dance and literature by artists living and working in the capital.

Musicians including Asian Dub Foundation will play at the event, as well as local performance poet/rapper Naga.

A photography and video exhibition by Robert Streeter will explore the 'style of East London's Bangladeshi youth', celebrating the cultural heritage of Asian visual arts.

Sweety Kapoor, curator and producer of the event, said: 'It became clear to me that this was a platform to showcase contemporary Bangladeshi/Bengali talent - from musicians, visual artists, actors and dancers - for it was in their voices and through their art, that we could begin to understand what their nation and their culture means.'

'The common traditions of music, art, literature and culture breaches border fences like no illegal immigrant or invading soldier can,' she explained.
