Tom Bewick, group chief executive of the Sector Skills Council Creative & Cultural Skills (CCS) has announced that he will step down in April.
Having founded the organisation in 2004 with colleague Tony Hall, Mr Bewick's title was elevated from chief executive in 2008 when the National Skills Academy for the CCS was formally founded and incorporated.
In a statement announcing his step-down from the role, he said: 'It's a real wrench to be leaving but I am very excited to be continuing my campaigning approach in a new role, and one which is highly relevant to the creative sector.
'I am particularly going to miss the staff and trustees who really are first rate and unwavering in their passion and commitment to the work that we do. My new employer will make an announcement in due course.'
Through 2010, the CCS will be led by the board of trustees, who represent a team of high-profile representatives of the cultural industries.
The organisation is the acting sector skills council for all creative and cultural industries in the UK, including advertising, craft, cultural heritage, design, music, performing arts, visual arts and literature across the UK.
